Viewers are set for a dramatically different I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2025 as ITV executives have vowed to make this year's series the most challenging in the show's history. In a bold move away from recent harmonious camps, producers are deliberately engineering conditions to create more tension and conflict among the celebrity contestants.
A Deliberate Shift Towards Drama
After what they describe as a "too positive and happy" camp in 2024, television bosses are actively seeking to ramp up the drama for the upcoming season. Executive producer Olly Nash explicitly told the Daily Mail that they want the cast to "fight more" this year. The strategy begins with the elimination of comfort, starting with the axing of traditional luxury items that contestants usually bring into camp.
Gone are the days of celebrities relying on pillows, family photographs, or favourite seasonings for comfort. Instead, the only way to secure a framed picture of a loved one will be to win it through challenging trials. This fundamental change underscores the producers' commitment to making celebrities earn their keep rather than enjoy any unearned comforts.
Gruelling Conditions and Increased Competition
Nash emphasized that the show is meant to be a "tough and gruelling" experience, and this year they're determined to "drive that home." A significant change involves participation in trials, with more celebrities taking part in challenges than ever before, effectively turning the experience into more of a competition.
"No longer can they be just sitting on the beds in the back," Nash warned. "They are going to have to step up to the challenge and face the music." The executive producer didn't shy away from acknowledging that certain personalities are likely to clash under the intensified conditions, particularly when dealing with hunger and sleep deprivation.
Adding to the heightened tension, Nash revealed that the camp is experiencing an unprecedented presence of snakes during the build-up phase. "I have seen more snakes in this build phase than I ever have done before," he stated, describing "huge great pythons almost as long as this log" and noting six or seven sightings in just two weeks.
Viewer Voting Rules Revised
In response to previous complaints about fairness, ITV has implemented a crucial rule change for the Bushtucker Trials. Viewers will no longer be able to vote for the same celebrity to undertake more than two trials consecutively. If a campmate has completed two trials back-to-back, they will be protected from viewer votes for a third consecutive day, after which the system resets.
This change addresses concerns that some participants were being repeatedly voted for trials multiple days in a row, creating an uneven experience within the camp.
I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2025 begins its new, tougher season on Sunday at 9pm on ITV1, STV, and ITVX, with Ant and Dec returning to helm what promises to be the most demanding jungle experience yet.
