ITV's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! has been rocked by a second contraband scandal, plunging the camp into chaos and costing the hungry celebrities a precious star from their dinner.
The Contraband Uncovered
During a dramatic episode, presenters Ant and Dec delivered the news to campmates that a stash of illicit items had been discovered, leading to an immediate punishment. The camp lost one star from their hard-earned dinner entitlement, directly impacting their meagre food supply.
The controversy first erupted when former footballer Alex Scott was caught smuggling five packets of salt into the jungle. Alex had been secretly using the salt to flavour her diet of plain rice and beans. However, ITV producers eventually uncovered the scheme, leading to a camp-wide amnesty where all celebrities were ordered to hand over any banned items.
Shona's Shocking Smuggle
As the amnesty was announced, EastEnders actor Shona McGarty made a startling confession. She admitted to possessing her own contraband and returned from the 'dunny' (outhouse) with a large can of air freshener.
The sheer size of the item left viewers utterly baffled, with many taking to social media to express their disbelief. One fan questioned, "I think we're all baffled as to how Shona managed to smuggle a can of air freshener in." Another echoed the sentiment, asking, "How... how did Shona manage to smuggle an entire air freshener into camp?"
It has since been revealed that Shona actually took the air freshener from the production team after a Bushtucker Trial, rather than smuggling it from the outside world initially.
Campmate Backlash and Fallout
The revelation sparked a mixed reaction within the camp. While some campmates mocked the situation, others were far less impressed. Rapper Aitch expressed his disappointment, stating that he had "worked hard" to win 11 stars and was frustrated to lose one.
Martin Kemp used the Bush Telegraph to voice his astonishment at the size of Shona's smuggled item. Jack Osbourne quipped, "There is always one," while a clearly unimpressed Kelly Brook said, "I can't believe this. I thought we were a team."
After a period of deliberation, both Alex and Shona apologised to their fellow celebrities and crew before surrendering their contraband to ensure the camp faced no further punishment.
