In a dramatic turn of events off the dancefloor, Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas received a surprise visit from an eliminated contestant seeking playful revenge.
A Lipstick Message on the Mirror
Ballas was left shocked after discovering that drag performer La Voix, whose real name is Christopher Dennis, had accessed her private dressing room during the live broadcast on Saturday night. The intruder left a candid note for the judge, scrawled directly onto her mirror in lipstick.
The message simply asked: "Why did you give me a 2? La Voix x." This referred to the score Ballas awarded La Voix and her professional partner, Aljaž Škorjanec, for their Week Four Cha Cha Cha earlier in the series.
The Backstory to the Low Score
That particular score contributed to the couple receiving a total of just 14 points from the judges, marking one of the lowest week-four scores in the show's history. La Voix was subsequently forced to withdraw from the competition due to an injury, but the sting of the score clearly lingered.
Speaking to Attitude magazine previously, Christopher Dennis channeled his drag persona's fury, stating: "La Voix is not here, sadly. She’s still furious about Saturday night, with Shirley Ballas giving her a two, she’s refusing to even show face, quite frankly."
Notably, even the show's notoriously critical judge, Craig Revel Horwood, believed the score was excessively harsh. On the Pride of Britain red carpet, he told the same publication: "Oh God, that was a bit rough… my jaw was dropping. I thought it was at least worth a three."
Good-Humoured Aftermath
The revenge mission was executed when La Voix returned to the studio as an audience member. She later took to Instagram to boast about the caper, posting: "I got my revenge yesterday! Sneaking into @shirleyballas dressing room..." alongside a photo of a stunned-looking Ballas confronting the mirror message.
Demonstrating the incident was all in good fun, Shirley Ballas shared the post on her own social media channels. She captioned it with a light-hearted: "When @lavoixtheshow sneaks into your dressing room …," adding a flushed-face emoji with a hand over its mouth.
The playful prank highlights the intense emotions and high stakes of the BBC competition, while also showing the camaraderie that exists between judges and contestants once the dancing stops.
