CCTV footage has revealed the final moments of Gavin Parry, a 31-year-old alleged member of the notorious Burger Bar Boys gang, before he was fatally shot in Birmingham. Parry was killed by a Skorpion machine gun at City Industrial Estate in Western Road, Winson Green, at approximately 5.19pm on April 13, 2021.
What the CCTV Shows
The video captures Parry running through the estate wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying a Second World War-style STEN machine gun. According to the court, Parry arrived at the unit on a quad bike, became involved in an argument, left, and returned 30 minutes later armed and wearing the vest.
Conviction and Sentencing
Theo Bailey, 34, of Victoria Road, Soho, was convicted of manslaughter by a jury at Birmingham Crown Court in November 2025 after a four-week trial. On July 6, 2026, he was sentenced to 22 years in prison. The court heard that Bailey and Dante Kalsi disconnected the site's CCTV system prior to the shooting. Additional footage showed Kalsi removing a concealed long item, believed to be one or both firearms, from Bailey’s unit. A hidden hard drive containing relevant CCTV was later recovered.
Weapons and Evidence
A ballistic expert concluded that the fatal weapon was likely a Skorpion submachine gun. Neither the Skorpion nor the STEN machine gun has been recovered. Bailey falsely reported the incident to emergency services via 999 and misled officers about the CCTV and circumstances of the shooting.
Co-defendant Sentenced
Dante Kalsi, 29, of no fixed address, was arrested in June 2021 when officers found five unfired Skorpion-compatible bullets at his address, along with a screenshot of a press release and prior internet searches related to firearm conversion. In November 2025, he was acquitted of murder and manslaughter but convicted of perverting the course of justice. Kalsi was jailed for three years.
Police Statement
Detective Chief Inspector Jim Mahon of West Midlands Police said: “Gavin Parry was killed in broad daylight after a trap was set, meaning that he would be shot upon his return. Bailey and Kalsi took deliberate steps to disable CCTV to conceal the crime. Automatic firearms are exceptionally dangerous and have devastating consequences. We continue to urge anyone with information on the location of these weapons - or illegal firearms generally - to contact police, so we can remove them from our streets.”
