A popular annual cycling event is set to return this summer after being cancelled in 2025 when Storm Darragh caused damage to part of the route. The Hope House Cycle Challenge raises thousands of pounds each year to support children living with life-threatening conditions.
Event Details for Summer 2026
“We are delighted to bring back our Cycle Challenge for summer 2026,” said Harriet Richards from Hope House. “We know how much our cyclists look forward to this event every year and we can’t wait to welcome everyone once again to ride and to raise money which will help children with life-threatening conditions to live their best life.”
Cyclists will take to the roads on August 9, with two route options: a scenic 56-mile ride to Lake Vyrnwy or a more challenging 70-mile route to Lake Bala. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option called Cycle100 runs throughout August, allowing participants to complete miles on roads, at the gym, or on a spin bike at home.
Participation Options and Sponsorship
Harriet added: “You can cycle solo, with friends or family, or as part of a team - whatever works best for you.” The event celebrates cycling amidst the beautiful English and Welsh countryside, and spaces are expected to fill quickly.
Two ticket options are available for the Cycle Challenge: a £25 entry fee with a minimum £75 sponsorship, or a £45 entry fee with no sponsorship requirement. The Cycle100 virtual challenge is free to enter, with a suggested sponsorship target of £25. To register for either event, visit www.hopehouse.org.uk/cycle.
