New Birmingham-to-Liverpool Steam Trip for Just £20 More Than Regular Train
Brummies Can Ride Steam to Liverpool for Just £62.50

Vintage Trains has announced a new steam-hauled express service from Birmingham to Liverpool, offering passengers a nostalgic journey at a price that compares favorably with standard rail travel. The 'Ticket to Ride' experience takes place on Saturday, July 11, with standard return tickets starting at £62.50 per person — just £20 more than a conventional Saturday service on a crowded commuter train.

Discounted Attractions in Liverpool

Passengers on the steam special can enjoy exclusive partner discounts at two of Liverpool's landmark attractions: The Beatles Story at the Albert Dock, and the Mersey Ferry, the historic cross-river service that has been operating since the 1800s. This makes the trip an ideal day out for music fans and history enthusiasts alike.

Onboard Experience

The journey departs from Birmingham New Street, hauled by a vintage steam locomotive at mainline speed, calling at several stations along the way. For those seeking an enhanced experience, Pullman and First-Class dining options are available on board, offering at-seat dining as the English countryside passes by.

Nick Ralls, Managing Director of Vintage Trains, said: "Liverpool is a city with an incredible sense of its own history, and we wanted to give people a way of arriving that matches that. Steam travel and cultural heritage are a natural fit, and with tickets starting at £62.50, there's no reason this has to be a special occasion purchase. It's a genuinely accessible day out."

Exploring Liverpool

Once in Liverpool, passengers can visit the Albert Dock, the waterfront, the Cavern Quarter, and other attractions. The city offers a wealth of cultural and historical sites to explore.

Tickets for the July 11 Liverpool journey are on sale now via Vintage Trains. Vintage Trains is based at Tyseley Locomotive Works, Warwick Road, Birmingham.
