If you're travelling to the airport by car, it's worth checking the latest parking and drop-off information before you set off," the airport wrote. "Work out what car parking option is right for you on our dedicated page. Whether you're travelling next week or later this summer, we hope these tips help you feel prepared before you jet off."
Parking options to suit every traveller
East Midlands Airport says there is a parking option for every kind of trip, whether passengers are looking for convenience, value for money, or a combination of both. The airport currently offers five main parking products: Meet and Greet, Short Stay, Mid Stay, Long Stay, and JetParks.
Meet and Greet
Meet and Greet is designed for travellers who want to save time. A member of the airport's driving team takes charge of the vehicle, allowing passengers to go straight to check-in. This option is also suitable for Blue Badge holders, making it easier for those with mobility needs to start their journey.
Short Stay
Short Stay parking is recommended for trips of just a few days. There are three Short Stay car parks, all located right next to the Terminal. This makes it ideal for business trips and mini breaks where every minute counts. Blue Badge holders should use Short Stay 1, which has clearly identifiable accessible bays.
Mid Stay
Mid Stay parking is described as perfect for trips of up to one week. It is located just a few minutes' walk from the Terminal, so passengers can reach check-in quickly. Mid Stay 3 is the designated area for Blue Badge holders, with easily recognisable accessible parking bays.
Long Stay
For those going away for a week or more, Long Stay parking offers a convenient and cost-effective solution. The airport provides a free bus transfer to the Terminal, so passengers don't have to worry about long walks with luggage. This option is also suitable for Blue Badge holders.
JetParks
JetParks is another option for trips of a week or longer. It offers great-value parking with a free, regular shuttle bus to the Terminal. Like all the airport's car parks, JetParks is suitable for Blue Badge holders, ensuring accessibility is maintained across the site.
Pick-up and drop-off: what drivers need to know
If drivers are picking up or dropping off passengers, they are advised to follow the signs for the Short Stay Car Park. The airport explains: "You can pick up or drop off in the Short Stay 1 car park. This is ideal if you want to accompany passengers or head into the Terminal to meet someone."
Short Stay 1 is accessible only on foot to and from the terminal. For passengers who need a wheelchair or additional assistance, help points can be found in all car parks across the airport.
Charges for pick-up and drop-off
The airport has published charges for the Short Stay 1 pick-up and drop-off area. These are structured to encourage short visits, with fees increasing for longer stays:
- Up to 30 minutes: £6
- Up to 30 minutes for Blue Badge holders (Short Stay 1 only): FREE
- Up to 1 hour: £8
- Up to 2 hours: £12
- Up to 3 hours: £16
Airport officials add: "Blue Badge parking is available at Short Stay 1 car park (Free for first 30 minutes), where blue badge parking bays are clearly identifiable." This means eligible drivers can take advantage of a free half-hour window for quick drop-offs or pick-ups.
