BBC to Broadcast England vs Mexico World Cup Clash
England's World Cup campaign continues this weekend with a last-16 clash against co-hosts Mexico at the iconic Azteca Stadium. The match, kicking off at 1am UK time, will be shown exclusively live on BBC, with ITV not broadcasting the game.
The BBC confirmed it will be the sole UK broadcaster for the fixture, airing on BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer. England progressed after Harry Kane's heroics in the previous round against DR Congo, keeping their hopes alive in the tournament.
Prime Video and ITVX Offer Free Streaming Options
While England vs Mexico is not on ITV, Prime Video's ITVX channel is broadcasting over 50 matches from the 2026 World Cup, including key knockout ties and the final on July 19. Viewers can access this content free with a seven-day trial of ITVX Premium, which normally costs £5.99 per month after the trial.
Prime Video also provides on-demand replays of all matches, a highlights platform summarising every fixture, and classic encounters. This content is available on smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, and laptops, allowing fans to follow the tournament on the go.
England Face Tough Test at Azteca Stadium
The match represents a gruelling challenge for Thomas Tuchel's side. Mexico have not conceded a goal in the tournament so far, and England must contend with high altitude and a sold-out stadium of home fans. The Azteca is known for its intimidating atmosphere.
Kitbag is offering up to £35.25 off England shirts with Harry Kane printing using code AFF15, which gives 15% off and free printing.
ITV Coverage Praised by Fans
Viewers have praised ITV's World Cup coverage on Prime Video. One fan wrote on X: "ITV [is] in a different league. It's not even close." Another said: "ITV coverage of the World Cup has been great and the highlights are amazing." However, some questioned commentator choices, with one fan adding: "Why, for the matches we can't watch live, are you having the best commentators like Drury, Alan Smith, but on prime time matches where we watch live, it's Dixon."
