Jet2 Announces Generous Free Luggage Allowance for Birmingham Travelers
Jet2 passengers departing from Birmingham Airport during the upcoming half-term break have received welcome news regarding their luggage allowances. The airline is permitting travelers to bring up to six items onboard without incurring any extra fees, making family trips more convenient and cost-effective.
Hand Luggage and Small Bag Allowances
As standard, Jet2 allows each passenger to carry a 10kg hand luggage bag that must fit within dimensions of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm, including wheels and handles. Additionally, passengers can bring a small bag measuring no more than 40cm x 30cm x 20cm, which can be stored under the seat in front without any charge.
Free Items for Families with Children
Families traveling with infants or young children can benefit significantly from this policy. Jet2 permits the following items to be carried for free, with a total weight limit of 10kg per child:
- Collapsible pushchairs or buggies
- Car seats
- Travel cots
These items must be placed in the hold, but passengers can take pushchairs all the way to the plane steps before boarding, enhancing convenience for parents.
Checked Baggage and Extra Allowances
In addition to the free items, passengers can check a suitcase weighing up to 22kg. For infants under two years old who do not receive their own checked bag allowance, Jet2 adds an extra 10kg to the accompanying adult's 22kg hold bag at no cost. This applies to each infant-adult pairing on the booking.
Important Considerations and Policies
Jet2 advises passengers to inform the airline if they are carrying multiple items like pushchairs or car seats, as this may affect transfer arrangements at their destination. In some cases, private transfers might be required at an additional expense. Any items exceeding the 10kg weight limit for free child-related goods will be subject to excess baggage charges, depending on space and availability.
This initiative by Jet2 aims to ease the burden of traveling with young children, ensuring a smoother and more affordable experience for families flying from Birmingham this half-term.
