West Midlands Metro trams halted between Wednesbury and West Bromwich

West Midlands Metro has announced a suspension of tram services between Wednesbury and West Bromwich due to a track issue. The disruption, which began on Tuesday morning (July 14), has left no trams operating on that section of the line.

Service Suspension Details

A service update issued at 10:48 am stated: "Due to a track issue between Black Lake and Wednesbury, there is no service operating between Wednesbury and West Bromwich Central." Trams continue to run between Wolverhampton and Wednesbury, as well as between West Bromwich and Edgbaston Village only.

Passengers holding valid tickets and passes are advised to use alternative transport. The Metro operator confirmed that tickets and passes will be accepted on National Express West Midlands bus service 79 and West Midlands Railway trains.

Further Disruption Ahead

Tram passengers face additional disruption next week due to planned road surface repairs on Bilston Road in Wolverhampton. No services will run between Priestfield and Wolverhampton Station or St George’s from 8 pm between Monday, July 20 and Tuesday, July 28.

Customers were informed: "Trams will operate to all stops from the start of service until 8 pm. From 8 pm trams will operate between Priestfield and Edgbaston Village via Millennium Point only." Metro tickets and passes will be accepted on National Express bus service 79 between Wolverhampton and West Bromwich.

The last tram departing from Wolverhampton Station to Edgbaston Village will leave at 8 pm, while the final tram from Wolverhampton St George’s to Edgbaston Village via Millennium Point will depart at 7:54 pm.
