Over 20,000 parking fines have been handed out along Birmingham's 10 hotspot roads already this year, exclusive figures have revealed. Traffic wardens frequently patrol these streets due to longstanding parking problems, and rule-breakers continue to get caught in large numbers.

Birmingham City Council provided data on the 10 worst roads for parking fines in 2026. In just five months, a total of 20,148 penalty notices have been issued, generating hundreds of thousands of pounds for the council.

Stratford Road: The Top Hotspot

Stratford Road in Sparkhill and Sparkbrook is the city's parking fine hotspot. Over 5,000 penalty charge notices (PCNs) have been handed out on the Sparkhill stretch alone—around 1,000 per month—and nearly 2,800 further up the road in Sparkbrook. Penalties have surged recently, suggesting increased enforcement or worsening parking behavior.

Other Common Locations

Alum Rock Road is another frequent target, with close to 5,000 fines issued this year. Traffic wardens also regularly patrol city centre streets like Gas Street, Cornwall Street, Moat Lane, and Lionel Street. Drivers are warned against parking on double yellow lines or failing to pay.
