A taxi passenger has died following a serious collision on the M6 in Warwickshire. The incident occurred on the slip road of the northbound carriageway at junction three, known as the Exhall Interchange, at approximately 5pm on Tuesday, May 26.
The victim, a woman in her 60s, sustained severe injuries when the taxi she was travelling in was involved in a crash with a black Mercedes. She was taken to hospital but later died as a result of her injuries, Warwickshire Police confirmed.
Police investigation and appeal
Warwickshire Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision. No arrests have been made at this stage. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
In a statement, police said: "Did you see a collision on the slip road of the M6 involving a taxi and a black Mercedes? It happened on the northbound side at junction 3 around 5pm on Tuesday, May 26. Sadly, a passenger in the taxi – a woman in her 60s – suffered serious injuries and later died in hospital."
They added: "We’re currently investigating what happened and would ask anyone who drove past or has dashcam footage to share it with us. Please get in touch quoting incident number 297 of May 26."
