Sky is permanently closing four TNT Sports channels in a major TV guide shake-up this July, affecting older satellite viewers who rely on Standard Definition (SD) broadcasts. The affected channels are TNT Sport 1 SD, TNT Sport 2 SD, TNT Sport 3 SD, and TNT Sport 4 SD, which will no longer be available on Sky boxes.
Switch to High Definition
Viewers wanting to watch these channels have been instructed to find the equivalent High Definition (HD) services on channels 410, 411, 413, and 414. This move continues Sky's gradual transition away from SD broadcasts, pushing customers towards HD.
In addition to the four closures, two other services are being changed. Nick Jr. Too (Satellite channel 612 and Glass/Stream channel 208) will be temporarily transformed into Nick Jr. Paw Patrol, a limited-time children's channel. Separately, Times Radio, a news and opinion radio station, will now be available on channel 0142 for satellite viewers only.
ITV Secures Rugby World Cup Rights
The changes come as ITV has agreed a deal for live rights to the 2027 men's Rugby World Cup, cementing its position as the home of international rugby in the UK. ITV now has live coverage of every England international until at least 2029, as its joint Six Nations deal with the BBC gives it two-thirds of the tournament's games and all of England matches.
ITV has also bought live rights for every game of the 2026 and 2028 editions of the new Nations Championship. According to reports, ITV beat off competition from the BBC to secure the World Cup. ITV was determined to keep exclusive rights rather than explore a joint deal, with the advertising market around live rugby particularly lucrative for the broadcaster.
