Police have launched an investigation following the death of a woman near a canal in Walsall, which is currently being treated as unexplained.

The woman was recovered from a canal off Wolverhampton Street in the town shortly after 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 3.

Detectives have stated that her death is being treated as unexplained, and specialist officers are providing support to her family.

Scene Remains Cordoned Off

A police cordon remains in place at the scene, located near the town's Premier Inn, as investigations continue.

Detectives say they are in the early stages of their inquiry and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We are carrying out enquiries after a woman sadly died after being pulled from the canal off Wolverhampton Street, Walsall, at just after 1:15 a.m. today.

"Her death is currently being treated as unexplained, and a scene is in place. Our thoughts are with her loved ones, and we will be supporting them as our enquiries continue.
