Birmingham Airport has opened a new lounge complex with strict rules covering dress code, time limits, children, and alcohol. The three-tiered Aspire lounge offers options for different budgets, from an ultra-exclusive 52-seat Suite to a 135-seat standard lounge. Passengers must follow four main rules to gain entry, including a smart-casual dress code and a 3-hour pre-flight entry window.
Three-Tiered Lounge Structure
The new lounge is divided into three distinct areas. Suite by Aspire is an ultra-exclusive, 52-seat lounge modelled after first-class air travel, featuring privacy, à la carte dining, and personal table-side service. Luxe by Aspire is a 104-seat upscale space tailored for business and high-end leisure travellers, offering dedicated quiet work zones and an enhanced food and beverage selection. Refreshed by Aspire Lounge is a fully refurbished and expanded 135-seat standard lounge accessible to all travellers.
Dress Code: Smart-Casual Only
Staff enforce a smart-casual policy. Allowed clothing includes jeans, smart t-shirts, hoodies, non-sport fashion tracksuits, smart trainers, sandals, and chino or cargo shorts. Not allowed are football or rugby team shirts, men's vest tops, fancy dress, onesies, pyjamas, themed group outfits, clothing with offensive text or slogans, and baseball caps.
Time Limits and Group Bookings
Guaranteed entry is permitted up to 3 hours prior to scheduled flight departure, though extra hours can sometimes be purchased at the desk depending on capacity. A valid boarding pass for a departure from Birmingham Airport on the same day is required. Large parties, typically groups of six or more, are strictly controlled; they must book together under a group reservation. Making multiple smaller bookings to bypass group restrictions may lead to entry being denied at the desk.
Children and Alcohol Policies
Children of all ages are permitted in the Aspire and Luxe lounges when accompanied by an adult. Children under 2 years old enter free of charge, but a free infant ticket must be added to the booking. Parents are asked to keep children supervised and prevent running or loud disruptions, especially in designated quiet and work zones. Complimentary and premium alcoholic drinks are served strictly to guests aged 18 and over. Staff reserve the right to limit alcohol consumption or refuse entry to any passenger showing signs of intoxication or disruptive behaviour, regardless of pre-paid bookings.
