National Highways has announced a series of overnight closures on major motorways in the West Midlands, including the M6, M5, M42 and M54. The closures will take place from Monday night, April 27, into Tuesday morning, April 28, to minimize disruption for drivers.
M6 Closures
The M6 will see several carriageway closures. From Junction 5 (Castle Bromwich) to Junction 6 (Spaghetti Junction), the northbound carriageway will be closed from 9pm Monday to 6am Tuesday for maintenance. Similarly, the southbound carriageway from Junction 7 (Great Barr) to Junction 6 will be closed during the same period. Additionally, the southbound carriageway from Junction 12 (Gailey) to Junction 11 (Cannock) will be closed from 9pm Monday to 6am Tuesday for maintenance. The northbound link road from Junction 4 (Coleshill) to the M42 will be closed from 9pm Monday to 5am Tuesday for HS2 works.
M5 Closures
The M5 will experience closures between Junction 2 (Oldbury) and Junction 3 (Quinton). The southbound carriageway will be closed from 9pm Monday to 6am Tuesday for maintenance. The northbound carriageway from Junction 4 (Lydiate Ash) to Junction 3 will also be closed during the same period for maintenance.
M42 and M54 Closures
On the M42, the northbound link road from Junction 7 (Coleshill) to the M6 will be closed from 9pm Monday to 5am Tuesday for HS2 works. Meanwhile, on the M54, the eastbound carriageway from Junction 3 (Tong) to Junction 2 (Coven Heath) will be closed from 9pm Monday to 6am Tuesday for maintenance.
All closures are scheduled overnight to reduce impact on daytime traffic. Drivers are advised to plan alternative routes or allow extra travel time.
