Liberal Democrat councillor Kash Khan has condemned recent pothole repairs on Drummond Road as "shocking" and "a cowboy job," calling for a full resurfacing of the road. The councillor, who represents Cradley and Wollescote, said the workmanship was particularly poor outside the primary school.
Councillor's criticism of repair quality
Mr Khan said: "The workmanship here is shocking. Residents were promised pothole repairs, but what they have been left with looks like the work of cowboy tarmacers." He added: "Residents should not have to put up with roads being bodged, patched and patched again."
The councillor stressed that Drummond Road is "clearly beyond another quick fix" and said: "It needs a proper, full resurfacing, and the council needs to get on with it." The Liberal Democrat team is now urging Dudley Council to inspect the repairs and carry out a complete resurfacing of the road.
Council response and planned works
Councillor Simon Phipps, cabinet member for economy and infrastructure, responded: "Dudley Council has recently undertaken temporary repair work on Drummond Road due to safety concerns." He confirmed: "We are awaiting contractor availability for full resurfacing works, and this work will be undertaken between the junctions of Balds Lane and Radley Road this autumn."
The full resurfacing is scheduled to take place between the junctions of Balds Lane and Radley Road. Residents have expressed frustration over the repeated patching of the road, which the councillor said has left the road in a poor state.
