Two Men Injured in Serious Birmingham Car Crash, One in Life-Threatening Condition
Police are urgently appealing for witnesses after a serious car crash in Birmingham left two men injured, with one in a life-threatening condition. The incident occurred on Clapgate Lane near the junction with Bell Heath Way at approximately 11:10 PM on Monday, April 13, 2026, when a vehicle collided with a tree.
Emergency Response and Injuries
Emergency services, including two ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma team, and a critical care car from the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, swiftly responded to the scene. A 20-year-old man, the driver, was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified and was taken to hospital with an arm injury. A second man, aged 26 and a passenger in the car, sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital in a critical condition, where he remains with life-threatening injuries.
A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service stated, "The passenger, a man, was in a critical condition. He was extricated with help from fire colleagues and received advanced trauma care on scene by the team of medics before being conveyed on blue lights to the same hospital for further trauma care. His condition on arrival in A&E was described as life-threatening."
