Owners of a popular Birmingham rock bar have made a firm pledge on pricing, directly addressing rumours circulating in the city ahead of its grand reopening.
Rumours of price hikes addressed head-on
Subside Bar, the well-known rock and metal venue in Digbeth, is currently undergoing a significant refurbishment. The bar was scheduled to reopen its doors on Friday, January 16. However, while the staff were enjoying a break in Thailand during the renovations, owner David Longmate and general manager Ben Mortiboy caught wind of local chatter suggesting the bar planned to substantially increase its drink prices.
Taking to social media to set the record straight, the bar's post was unequivocal. It confirmed that upon reopening, every single price would remain exactly the same. The management stated clearly that no price increases on any drinks were planned for the relaunch event.
Commitment to fans despite rising costs
The bar's leadership acknowledged the challenging economic climate facing the hospitality sector. They revealed they are already aware of substantial incoming price increases from their main brewery, Molson Coors, and other wholesalers in February.
Furthermore, they highlighted the planned increase to the legal minimum wage in April, coupled with rising utility and service costs. Despite this mounting pressure, the team has decided to absorb these costs in the short term.
All drinks and admission prices will be held at their current level until at least the end of March or April, after which they will be reassessed. This decision underscores their dedication to their loyal customer base.
