A Birmingham Airport worker's retirement plans are set to take off after he won a £1.2 million dream home near London. Lakhbeer Singh, from Oldbury, secured the four-bedroom property in Brentwood, Essex, after entering a BOTB competition.

Perfect Retirement Escape

The father-of-two expressed his delight, stating: "It's an amazing property and perfect for our retirement - an escape from the hustle and bustle of Birmingham." The house is situated within a private boutique gated development, offering countryside surroundings with convenient access to London.

Property Features

The 2,465-square-foot home boasts four-and-a-half bathrooms, underfloor heating throughout, landscaped gardens, and open-plan living spaces. Lakhbeer received the life-changing news when BOTB presenter Christian Williams knocked on his door, but initially thought the visit was for his son.

He admitted having no idea about his win until Christian informed him. "My son and I both play BOTB, and I genuinely thought he was here for my son, but then when he asked for me, I was thinking: 'Have I won a car or something?'" Lakhbeer revealed that he plays weekly using the BOTB pass, which automatically enters him into various competitions.

Unexpected Surprise

"With the pass, you've no idea what the prize could be. You watch the videos, but the last thing you think is that Christian's going to be knocking on your door, with that cheeky smile of his," he added. Lakhbeer, who has only had the pass for three months, said he and his wife, Amandeep, were completely speechless. "I was lost for words, me and the wife both were. I'm still trying to get it to sink in," he concluded.
