Iceland Launches Fried Turkey Tenders in Festive Challenge to KFC
Iceland launches fried turkey in challenge to KFC

Supermarket chain Iceland has thrown down the gauntlet to fast-food giant KFC by launching a brand-new fried turkey product just in time for the Christmas season.

A Festive Dream Fulfilled

The grocer announced it is releasing Crunchy Coated Turkey Fillet Tenders in a direct response to what it calls 'years' of KFC customers begging for turkey to be added to the menu. Iceland claims it is stepping in to satisfy millions of Brits seeking frozen fried turkey for their Christmas Day celebrations.

An Iceland spokesperson stated: "Brits have been asking for fried turkey for years, and every Christmas they’re ignored. We couldn’t sit by and watch another gravy-soaked heartbreak. Christmas is for turkey, and here at Iceland we always strive to give the people what they want."

The Cheeky Open Letter to KFC

To mark the product launch, Iceland published a tongue-in-cheek open letter addressed to the chicken chain. The letter, signed off "With love, stuffing, and proper gravy, Iceland", playfully chides KFC for its repeated refusal to offer turkey.

The letter reads: "Every Christmas, your fans flock to social media with one simple request: 'Please, give us turkey.' And every Christmas, you look them dead in the eye and serve… chicken. Again. This is now year three of the world’s most predictable festive heartbreak. So don’t worry, KFC, we’ll take it from here."

It continues by proclaiming that Iceland is "serving up the ho-ho-holy grail of Christmas dinners" and giving customers "the bird that sleighs every Christmas."

Where to Find the New Product

The new Crunchy Coated Turkey Fillet Tenders are available now in Iceland stores across the UK. The product is priced at an accessible £4.00, offering a festive alternative for those disappointed by the traditional KFC Christmas lineup.

The supermarket concluded its announcement by directly addressing consumers: "So, if you’re disappointed by KFC’s Christmas line up and you want to dip some fried turkey in your gravy, you know where to come."
