Morrisons Urges Stock Up on 7 Seasonal Items in June

Morrisons has urged shoppers to stock up on seven household staples in June, encouraging them to embrace seasonal shopping. The supermarket chain, which operates branches in Birmingham, has published a guide to seasonal produce on its website.

Seasonal Summer Produce

Morrisons, competing with Aldi, Sainsbury's, Asda, Tesco, and Lidl, stated: "Savour the taste of sunshine with our bright and brilliant summer produce. It’s the ultimate season for British beef, perfect for the BBQ, alongside a rainbow of summer fruit and veg."

The retailer suggests preparing a Sweetcorn Confetti Salad for garden parties or indulging in a Plum and Summer Fruit Pudding packed with sun-ripened berries. "From garden to grill, summer is all about simple, spectacular flavours," Morrisons added.

Seven Items to Stock Up On in June

June, which began on Monday, June 1, is ideal for the following seven items:

  • Strawberries
  • Cherries
  • Raspberries
  • Sweetheart Cabbage
  • Turnips
  • Chillies
  • Chives

Market Competition

This guidance comes after Lidl overtook Morrisons to become the fifth largest grocer in Great Britain. Lidl's sales grew by 8.8% year-on-year, reaching a record market share of 8.6% over the 12 weeks to 17 May, according to Worldpanel by Numerator. The German discounter's growth is attributed to households seeking to reduce weekly bills.

A Morrisons spokesperson commented: "Our Worldpanel market share has been stable since the beginning of 2025 and Morrisons continues to serve over 10 million customers a week. We have maintained our share while not opening new supermarkets, unlike the discounters, who continue to add significant new space."

Fraser McKevitt, head of retail and consumer insight at Worldpanel, noted: "The easing in the rate of inflation is welcome news for shoppers who have been grappling with warnings of a hike in food prices due to the impact of the war in the Middle East."
