The Human Kind Café in Billericay is set to participate in this autumn's major fundraising event organized by The Fun Walk Trust, aiming to raise essential funds for its community projects. The announcement follows a visit by trustees of The Fun Walk Trust to the high street venue, where they observed its innovative pay-it-forward scheme and the dedicated volunteer network that combats local loneliness and social isolation.
Recognition for Long-Standing Supporter
During the visit, local supporter Ram Goyal was acknowledged for his sustained backing of the annual walk through his charity One Footstep. Goyal, who also serves as founder of Be Human Kind and a trustee of the Hallmark Foundation, emphasized the importance of collective action.
“I believe that the strongest communities are built when people come together to support one another. Whether it's helping someone through a difficult time, tackling loneliness, addressing food poverty, or simply giving people a place to connect, we can achieve so much more by working together,” Goyal said.
He added, “That's why we've been proud to support The Fun Walk Trust over many years. It brings people together for a fantastic cause, while ensuring every pound raised goes even further through the Bonus Pot. It's a brilliant example of what can be achieved when communities, charities and businesses work side by side.”
Commitment to Local Impact
Goyal expressed gratitude for the opportunity to support the Trust both personally and through his organizations. “It's a privilege to support the Trust, both personally and through the organisations I'm involved with. Every charity taking part is making a real difference to people's communities, and I'm incredibly grateful to everyone who walks, volunteers, and donates. Together, we can continue supporting local charities and helping them make an even greater impact,” he stated.
John Baron, chair of The Fun Walk Trust, echoed these sentiments during the visit. “It was a pleasure to again visit the Human Kind Café and be reminded of the remarkable work being carried out by Ram Goyal, his team and volunteers. Their commitment to creating a place where everyone feels welcome is truly inspiring, and we are delighted they intend to join us for this year's Fun Walk,” Baron said.
“We are also extremely grateful to Ram for his many years of generous support for the Fun Walk as a Bonus Pot sponsor, most recently through One Footstep,” he added.
Bonus Pot Boosts Fundraising
The Fun Walk Trust's Bonus Pot, funded by local business donations, provides additional financial support to all participating organizations. Last year, the scheme added £35 to every £100 raised by groups taking part in the event, significantly amplifying their fundraising efforts.
The Fun Walk is scheduled to take place in Essex in September 2026, with free registration for all participants. Local organizations interested in joining can sign up online at the Fun Walk Trust's official website.
This collaboration highlights the power of community partnerships in addressing social issues such as loneliness and food poverty, with the Human Kind Café serving as a model for grassroots initiatives in Billericay and beyond.
