MHA Willowcroft, a care home in Derby, has raised £1,142 during its summer fayre, with the money set to support activities and trips for residents. The event, held on site, brought together residents, families, staff, and local stallholders for a day of fundraising and community spirit.
Event details and activities
The fayre featured a range of attractions including a raffle, tombola, silent auction, bric-a-brac table, and a mystery bottle table. Homemade cakes, brownies, and cookies were prepared by the home's kitchen team and proved popular with visitors. Stallholders sold a variety of handmade creations, adding to the festive atmosphere. Several staff members volunteered on their days off to help run the stalls, demonstrating a strong team commitment.
Community turnout and support
Claire Belshaw, administration manager at MHA Willowcroft, described the event as a success. “We had a fantastic turnout of residents, families, friends and staff, and it was lovely to see so many people coming together to support the event,” she said. “Several members of staff even came in on their days off, which was incredibly kind and really showed how much everyone wanted to make the day a success.” Belshaw also praised the kitchen team for their baking efforts and thanked the stallholders for their contributions.
Fund allocation and impact
The £1,142 raised will be directed to the home's amenities fund, which finances future excursions, events, and activities for residents. MHA Willowcroft provides residential and residential dementia care for up to 60 individuals. Belshaw emphasised the importance of the funds: “Most importantly, the money raised will allow us to continue putting on special events, activities and experiences for our residents and help us to make a real difference to their quality of life.” She extended gratitude to all participants, including families, friends, staff, the kitchen team, stallholders, and local businesses that donated items.
