The beloved Pink Glitter Ball made a dazzling return last month, generating a magnificent £12,200 for the charity Breast Cancer Now. The event, masterminded by dedicated best friends and organisers Kerry Banks BEM and Jo Allen, lit up a new venue with glamour and generosity.
A Sparkling Night of Fundraising
Held at The Grand Marquee at The Holiday Inn in Dover, the ball marked a triumphant comeback six years after its inaugural sold-out event. Guests were immersed in an evening of premium entertainment from the moment they arrived, enjoying welcome cocktails and being serenaded by the soulful vocals of singer Emma Black.
Attendees had professional photographs taken against a dedicated Breast Cancer Now backdrop before sitting down to a sumptuous three-course dinner. The entertainment continued with performances from singer Sharline Primrose and an energetic game of Heads and Tails.
Surprise Performances and Unwavering Support
A memorable surprise unfolded after dessert when an undercover singing waiter, Nelson, captivated the audience with an unexpected performance. The fundraising momentum continued with a charity auction, followed by a top-class DJ set from The Boombox UK that kept the dance floor busy until midnight.
The event's success was bolstered by significant local sponsorship. Key supporters included The Holiday Inn, The Boombox UK, VIP Waiters, Crystal Memories, Nicholas James Care Homes, Regal Care, Discovery Group, Smye-Rumsby, and Balloonarama Party, among others. A grant was also provided by Agents Giving via Nested - Dover & Deal Amanda Gage.
Decades of Dedication to a Cause
The driving force behind the ball stems from profound personal commitment. Kerry Banks BEM has been a volunteer, fundraiser, campaigner, and ambassador for Breast Cancer Now for nearly two decades. Her inspiration is the memory of her friend, Julie Mortimer, who passed away from the disease in 2010 at the age of 41.
Co-organiser Jo Allen has volunteered with the charity for over 12 years, supporting numerous events and even completing an overseas trek through the Jordanian desert to Petra with Kerry.
Reflecting on the night, Jo Allen said: "What an incredible night! Our Pink Glitter Ball exceeded all expectations. Everyone's amazing support helped us raise a fantastic amount for the charity."
Kerry Banks BEM added: "We can't thank everyone enough who sponsored, donated prizes, contributed to our goody bags or attended the event. It was an amazing night!" She extended special thanks to Sashen from The Holiday Inn, singers Emma and Sharline, and official photographer Dave Christie of Crystal Memories.
Organisers have already announced that the Pink Glitter Ball will return on Saturday, October 17, 2026. Tickets for the next event will go on sale in January 2025, and sponsorship opportunities ranging from £250 to £1,000 are currently available for businesses wishing to support the cause.
