Axe and Machete Seized in Birmingham as Police Arrest Three Suspected Drug Dealers
West Midlands Police officers from the Guardian Taskforce have seized an axe and a machete after arresting three men suspected of drug dealing in the Lozells area of Birmingham. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 14, when officers observed the individuals acting suspiciously on Lozells Road.
Foot Chase Leads to Arrests
Upon noticing the men, police attempted to approach them, but the suspects tried to flee the scene. A short foot chase ensued, during which officers successfully detained all three individuals. Following the apprehension, searches were conducted by the Guardian youth violence and knife crime team.
The searches resulted in the recovery of an axe and a machete, which were confiscated as evidence. The three men, aged 22, 23, and 24, were arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Suspects Remain in Custody
All three suspects remained in police custody on Wednesday, April 15, for further questioning. West Midlands Police confirmed the arrests in a statement, highlighting the ongoing efforts of the Guardian Taskforce to combat knife crime and youth violence in the region.
The police statement emphasized that Project Guardian employs a range of tactics, including plain-clothed operations, high visibility patrols, and positive engagement with young people, to reduce knife-related incidents.
