14-Year-Old Boy Fatally Shot in Woolwich Daytime Attack

A 14-year-old boy has tragically died following a shooting in Woolwich, London, during daylight hours. The Metropolitan Police have confirmed the incident and launched a murder investigation into the death of the teenager.

Officers were called to reports of a shooting at approximately 3.40pm on Thursday, April 2, in the Lord Warwick Street area of Woolwich. Paramedics attended the scene and fought to save the boy's life, but he was pronounced dead at the location.

Three Suspects Arrested in Connection with the Murder

In response to the shooting, police have arrested three individuals on suspicion of murder. The suspects include two boys aged 14 and 16, as well as an 18-year-old man. All three remain in police custody as the investigation progresses.

Detective Chief Inspector Lucie Card, who is leading the investigation, expressed condolences to the victim's family. "Our thoughts remain with the boy’s family and loved ones," she stated. "We are aware of the concern this incident will cause the community."

Police Appeal for Information and Footage

DCI Card emphasized that the investigation is moving swiftly, with an increased police presence maintained in the Woolwich area to reassure residents. She issued a public appeal for assistance, urging anyone with relevant information to come forward.

"I would appeal for anyone who was in the area at the time, who has CCTV or dash cam footage of the incident or has information that could help my officers to come forward," she said.

The victim's next-of-kin have been informed and are receiving support from specialist police officers. Authorities are treating this as a high-priority case, with forensic teams and detectives working diligently to uncover the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
