A 14-year-old boy suffered serious injuries when the Ford Fiesta he was a passenger in veered off the A442 and crashed into a field in Shropshire. The incident occurred at approximately 10:50 PM on Tuesday, June 30, in Oldington, near Bridgnorth. Emergency services rushed the teenager to hospital for treatment.
Other Victims Hospitalized
In addition to the seriously injured boy, a second 14-year-old boy, an 18-year-old man, and another child were taken to hospital for further care. West Mercia Police confirmed that their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Arrest Made
A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody as investigations continue. Police are appealing for witnesses to the single-vehicle crash.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses after a serious single‑vehicle collision on the A442 in Oldington on Tuesday, June 30. At around 10.50pm, officers on patrol located a blue Ford Fiesta that had left the carriageway and came to rest in a field nearby. A 14‑year‑old boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Three other people, a 14‑year‑old boy, an 18‑year‑old man, and another child, were also taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are not believed to be life‑threatening. A 20‑year‑old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody while enquiries continue."
