Burton Stalker Who Harassed Victim for Year Jailed for 32 Months
Burton Stalker Jailed for 32 Months After Year-Long Harassment

A stalker who followed and harassed a woman for more than a year has been jailed. Mohammed Qasim Ali, 25, from Burton-upon-Trent, admitted stalking involving fear of violence and harassment between August 2024 and September 2025.

Details of the Offences

The victim picked up her car from a garage in Burton-upon-Trent and drove to a shop two miles away. Ali followed her and got into the passenger seat of her car. When asked to leave, he became verbally aggressive, causing the woman to flee in August 2024.

Hours later, Ali threw rocks at the victim’s window and sat in his car outside, sounding his horn. That week, he called her around 70 times from a withheld number.

Continued Harassment

In July 2025, Ali stood outside a nursery waiting for the victim. He followed her across the car park and got into her car. The victim ran back into the nursery, but Ali waited outside. When she ran to her car, Ali chased her. She called 999, and Ali ran away.

He was arrested shortly after and, while in custody, threatened and racially harassed a detention officer.

Court Sentencing

At Stafford Crown Court on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Ali was jailed for two years and eight months. PC Steven Franklin of the east Staffordshire policing team said: “Ali stalked and harassed the victim for more than a year. We do not underestimate the impact of his actions. I hope this sentence shows our commitment to protecting victims across Staffordshire.”
