A family in Walsall endured a parent's worst nightmare on Monday evening when their car was stolen with a young girl still strapped into the backseat. The incident, which unfolded on Severn Road in Blakenall, prompted a swift police response and a desperate search for the child.
The Moment of Terror
According to West Midlands Police, the theft occurred at approximately 8:30 pm on Monday, November 10. The vehicle's owner had momentarily stepped out of the car, leaving it temporarily unattended. Seizing the opportunity, a thief jumped into the driver's seat and sped away with the child still inside.
Emergency services were immediately alerted. A spokesperson for the force confirmed they were called "after a car with a child in the back was stolen off Severn Road." The situation triggered a frantic search for the vehicle and the young passenger.
Safe and Sound: A Happy Ending
Thankfully, the harrowing incident was short-lived. The stolen car was located abandoned a short distance away on Turnstone Road in Bloxwich. Ambulance crews were dispatched to the scene at 8:44 pm.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service reported: "On arrival, crews found a girl who was assessed by ambulance staff but wasn’t injured and so was discharged at the scene." The child was found to be safe and well, having been physically unharmed during the traumatic event.
