Warwick Crown Court Hears Disturbing Details of Alleged Child Abduction and Sexual Assault in Nuneaton
A harrowing case unfolding at Warwick Crown Court has heard detailed allegations that two men targeted a 12-year-old schoolgirl in a secluded Midlands cul-de-sac, with one defendant accused of multiple serious sexual offences.
Prosecution Outlines Alleged Sequence of Events
Opening the Crown's case on Thursday, January 29, prosecutor Daniel Oscroft told the court that the case concerns two men who both allegedly targeted the young girl in Nuneaton during the early evening of Tuesday, July 22, 2025. The prosecution described it as a light summer evening when the disturbing events are said to have unfolded.
Mr Oscroft told the jury of seven men and five women that co-defendant Mohammad Kabir, 24, allegedly attempted to get the girl to come with him, which constitutes the attempted abduction of a child. The court heard that Kabir is also accused of grabbing the girl by the neck in what prosecutors describe as strangulation, though the legal definition was clarified as not necessarily meaning he choked her.
Allegations Against Both Defendants
The prosecution suggested that when Kabir tried to take the girl away, he can only have had some sexual purpose, posing the rhetorical question: "What alternative could there have been?" The court was told that Kabir was with co-defendant Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, at the time, and it appears they were friends.
While the girl did not go with Kabir, the prosecution alleges that Mulakhil remained in the area for the next few hours and later met her. According to the Crown's case, Mulakhil talked to the girl and led her away to a secluded cul-de-sac called Cheverel Place, where he is accused of raping her, sexually assaulting her, and taking indecent images of her on a mobile phone.
Charges and Denials
Mulakhil faces multiple charges including child abduction, vaginal and anal rape, counts of sexual assault, and making indecent images of a child. The court heard that Mulakhil has admitted a charge of oral rape of the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons. However, Mulakhil, who is of no fixed abode, denies child abduction, two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and taking indecent photographs of a child.
Kabir, also of no fixed address, denies intentional strangulation, committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence, and attempting to take a child. All the offences are alleged to have taken place last July, with the trial continuing to examine the disturbing allegations in detail.
