Predator Films Himself Attacking Sleeping Woman
A dangerous sexual predator who filmed himself raping a sleeping woman has been jailed for nine years. Parry Bains, 26, used the victim's own mobile phone to record the horrific sexual assault while she was unconscious.
When the woman awoke, Bains confessed to what he had done. Despite his confession, the 26-year-old denied rape and forced his victim through a trial at Derby Crown Court.
Justice Served After Three-Year Wait
In October, jurors saw through Bains' lies and convicted him following a trial at Derby Crown Court. The rapist, of Westacre Drive, Church Gresley, Derbyshire, was finally sentenced to nine years in prison.
Detective Constable Claire Partridge, who led the investigation for Derbyshire Constabulary, praised the victim's incredible bravery throughout the three-year ordeal. "I know it has been very difficult for her, particularly with it taking three years to now see this case to conclusion", DC Partridge stated.
Police Urge Other Victims to Come Forward
DC Partridge described Bains as "clearly a dangerous sexual predator who simply cannot take no for an answer" and emphasised that his behaviour was "nothing short of horrific".
The detective added that the impact of his crimes will continue to affect her for years to come, but expressed hope that seeing Bains behind bars would provide some comfort and ability to begin rebuilding her life.
Derbyshire Constabulary has encouraged anyone who has experienced rape or sexual assault to come forward, assuring potential victims that they will be listened to without judgement and supported throughout any investigation.
