A Birmingham drug dealer who concealed heroin and crack cocaine behind a child's bed attempted to dismantle his phone as police stormed the property.
Dealer refused to open door
Shaquille Shirley, 31, refused to open the door when officers arrived at the Cannock address in March 2020. He shouted at police from an upstairs bedroom before they forced their way inside.
Once inside, officers found Shirley trying to take apart a phone, hiding the battery in his pocket. A sniffer dog later discovered the drugs hidden behind a child's bed.
Court sentencing
Shirley, originally from Birmingham, admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin. He was sentenced to three years in prison at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, June 5.
Police statement
A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said: 'Shaquille Shirley was inside an address in March 2020 when officers from our major and organised crime team turned up. As part of our investigation into that drug line, we were led to an address in the town, where Shirley was.'
'Shirley initially refused to open the door and was shouting at officers from the upstairs window. When we got inside, we found that Shirley had tried to dismantle a phone and had tried to hide the battery in his pocket. He was arrested.'
'When we searched the home with a drugs dog, we found heroin and crack cocaine which had been hidden behind a child's bed. After being charged with the offences, Shirley admitted being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and being concerned in the supply of heroin. He was jailed for three years at Stafford Crown Court on Friday, June 5.'
