Organised Crime Group Sentenced for Extensive Burglary Operation
An Albanian organised crime group responsible for a sophisticated £1 million burglary enterprise has been collectively jailed for more than 38 years following a major police investigation. The gang specifically targeted high-value items including designer handbags, expensive bottles of wine, cash, and jewellery during a series of brazen raids across the country.
Nationwide Crime Spree Uncovered
Staffordshire Police, working in close collaboration with multiple other forces including Cheshire Police, Derbyshire Police, and Nottinghamshire Police, uncovered that the group had committed at least 44 burglaries nationwide. This included nine burglaries within Staffordshire alone, where some stolen items held significant sentimental value for victims.
The criminal operation extended across numerous locations including Abbots Bromley, Stone, Aldridge, Marchington, Hill Ridware, Barton-under-Needwood, Cheslyn Hay, Kings Bromley, and Cheddleton. While some recovered items have been returned to their rightful owners, most were sold on through criminal networks.
Coordinated Police Raids and Arrests
Through meticulous detective work, officers from the criminal investigations department pieced together the gang's operations, discovering crucial DNA evidence in Staffordshire that linked members to the crimes. This breakthrough led to coordinated raids at addresses in Walsall, Sutton Coldfield, and Birmingham, where four key members were apprehended.
Additional arrests followed in Surrey and Sheffield, with police seizing nearly £17,000 in cash along with 13 designer handbags and 14 watches during the operations. The gang's meeting points and burglary facilitation methods were thoroughly mapped by investigators.
Guilty Pleas and Sentencing Details
Five defendants pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to possess criminal property during hearings at Chester Crown Court in late 2025 and early 2026. The sentenced individuals include Sidorjan Lleshi (26, of Sheffield) who received 10 years and 9 months, Krisjian Dedndreaj (28, of Walsall) sentenced to 9 years, George Lleshaj (31, of Walsall) given 9 years, and Kristian Gropcaj (30, of Birmingham) jailed for 10 years.
Jade Tubb (33, of Coventry) received a one-year suspended sentence for conspiracy to possess criminal property, while a sixth defendant, Endrit Nikolli (27, of Walsall), awaits sentencing scheduled for late April. Several additional burglary counts were taken into consideration during the proceedings.
Police Statement on Justice Served
Detective Constable Grant Dixon from CID commented after the case: "Officers and staff from various police forces have all put significant effort into making sure this group were stopped in their tracks and brought to justice today. It is not lost on me the extent of the damage they have caused to different people across the UK, both from a financial and emotional perspective."
"We have worked tirelessly to make sure that the evidence presented in court was irrefutable, meaning that they had no other choice but to confront what they have done in court. I'm pleased we've been able to deliver this outcome collectively today. We've worked together to put a prolific group of offenders behind bars, and we'll continue to do that against those who are still out there committing burglaries in our communities."
The successful prosecution represents a significant victory for multi-force collaboration in combating organised crime networks operating across regional boundaries.
