Investigation After Two Cars Ablaze in Birmingham

An investigation has been launched after two cars were deliberately set ablaze in Birmingham overnight, with police treating the incidents as arson.

Two Cars Ablaze in Separate Incidents

West Midlands Police confirmed they were called to reports of two separate car fires in the city during the early hours of Wednesday morning. The first incident occurred on Stoney Lane in the Sparkhill area, where a vehicle was found engulfed in flames. The second fire was reported on Warwick Road in Acocks Green, where another car was also alight.

Fire crews from West Midlands Fire Service attended both scenes and extinguished the blazes. No injuries were reported in either incident.

Police Treat Fires as Arson

Police have stated that both fires are being treated as suspicious and are believed to have been started deliberately. Officers have launched an investigation and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Inspector Chris Jones, from West Midlands Police, said: “We are treating these fires as arson and are working to establish the full circumstances. We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the areas around the time of the fires.”

Appeal for Witnesses

Police are urging anyone with dashcam footage or who may have seen anything suspicious in the Stoney Lane or Warwick Road areas between midnight and 3am on Wednesday to contact them. Information can be passed on via the police website or by calling 101, quoting crime reference numbers 20/123456/24 and 20/123457/24.

The investigation is ongoing, and police have not yet made any arrests.
