A murder investigation is underway in Oldbury after a woman was found dead at a residential property over the weekend.

Woman Found Unresponsive on Barncroft Road

Police were called to an address on Barncroft Road in the early hours of Sunday, December 21, where they discovered a woman who was unresponsive. Emergency services attended, but the woman was tragically confirmed dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been formally released by authorities.

Suspect in Custody as Investigation Continues

West Midlands Police swiftly arrested a 19-year-old man on suspicion of murder. As of Monday, December 22, the suspect remains under arrest and in police custody for questioning. The investigation, described as "fast-moving," is being led by detectives from Sandwell Police.

Chief Inspector Imran Mirza stated: “Our thoughts remain with the woman’s family at this awful time who are being supported by specialist officers.” He confirmed that a range of investigative actions are being pursued to establish the full circumstances.

Police Reassure Local Community

Officers are conducting extensive enquiries in the local area. This includes reviewing CCTV footage, carrying out house-to-house visits, and examining forensic evidence collected from the scene.

Chief Inspector Mirza added: “You will see more officers around who will be in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.” The increased police presence is intended to support residents and gather any further information.
