A man has been charged with dangerous driving and a teenage boy arrested on drug charges following a police pursuit through Oldbury in the Black Country.
Police Chase Details
Officers from West Midlands Police's Road Crime team spotted the occupants of a Volkswagen acting suspiciously in the Oldbury area on Wednesday, June 10. An ANPR Interceptor officer deployed a stinger device to stop the vehicle, but the VW Passat drove off with its tyres quickly shredding before coming to a halt in Grafton Road.
Police seized a large quantity of Class A drugs and nearly £1,000 in cash from the scene.
Arrests and Charges
A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
Tony Wharton, aged 52, of no fixed address, has been charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, and driving without insurance. He was bailed with conditions and will appear at Dudley Magistrates' Court on July 14.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We charged a man with dangerous driving after a car failed to stop for officers and drove dangerously in Oldbury. The charge comes after officers from our Road Crime Team stopped the car on Grafton Road following a pursuit."
