Man Sentenced for Indecent Bus Stop Incident and Church Threats

Mohammed El-Deihi, a 34-year-old man with no known address, has been jailed for one year and 10 months following a series of disturbing incidents in Cambridgeshire. The sentence was handed down at Peterborough Crown Court on February 26 after El-Deihi admitted to multiple charges, including making threats to kill, using threatening or abusive behavior, outraging public decency, and failing to surrender to bail.

Indecent Act at Bus Stop

The most recent offense occurred several months ago when El-Deihi, described as barefoot and covered in mud, approached a woman waiting at a bus stop. He told her, "Come with me, I want to show you things," before putting his hands down his trousers and performing an indecent act. The victim refused his advances and asked him to leave her alone, but he only stopped and fled when a member of the public intervened by getting out of their car to assist the distressed woman.

Previous Incidents at St Mary’s Church

This was not El-Deihi's first encounter with the law. In February 2025, he followed a woman during her morning walk in Hardwick, near Cambridge, and became aggressive when she asked him to stop. A month later, he approached another woman out walking, shouting and swearing while blocking her path. El-Deihi had been frequenting St Mary’s Church in Hardwick at the time, where he would linger in doorways and block exits, ignoring pleas from churchgoers to stop coming.

In June 2025, El-Deihi became agitated when asked to leave the church again and moved very close to a man while making threats to kill him. These actions contributed to the charges of using threatening or abusive behavior and making threats to kill.

Police Response and Sentencing

PC Cairn Ivers from Cambridgeshire Constabulary commented on the case, stating, "El-Deihi’s behavior was blatant and absolutely disgusting. He was trying to intimidate and frighten his victims using aggression, which is totally unacceptable, so I am pleased justice has been done and he’s behind bars." The court's decision to impose a sentence of one year and 10 months reflects the severity of the offenses and the impact on the victims.

The incidents highlight ongoing concerns about public safety and the importance of community vigilance. Authorities have emphasized that such behavior will not be tolerated, and victims are encouraged to report similar incidents to the police promptly.
