Incident Details
West Midlands Police were called at 12:15pm to reports of an altercation between a group of teenagers. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital where his condition is described as life-threatening.
The scene on Market Street was cordoned off, and Church Street was closed. Buses were diverted, causing delays in the surrounding area.
Community Response
The White Swan pub, located nearby, stated that the incident did not affect their customers. In a statement, the pub said: "Our thoughts are with the young man and his family."
Police Appeal
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We know this will be worrying for residents in the local area, so would encourage anyone with any concerns to speak to one of our patrolling officers." Officers remained at the scene to assist with ongoing enquiries.
