Emergency services rushed to Pershore Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Monday, September 21, after a pedestrian was seriously injured in a collision with a car. The incident was reported at around 2.15pm, and the area was immediately cordoned off by police.
Police confirm serious collision and road closures
A Birmingham Police spokesperson confirmed officers were at the scene, stating: "We're currently at the scene of a serious collision on Pershore Road, #Edgbaston #Birmingham." The spokesperson detailed the road closures in place: "Speedwell Road at the junction of Hay Park Road & Benmore Avenue, Pershore Road at Balsall Heath Road & Edward Road. Please avoid the area and find an alternative route. Thank you."
The condition of the pedestrian involved has not been disclosed by authorities at this time.
Ambulance service dispatches trauma team
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: "We were called to reports of an RTC involving a pedestrian and a car on Pershore Road in Edgbaston, Birmingham, at 2.17pm today." She confirmed that an ambulance, a paramedic officer, and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic were dispatched to the scene.
Traffic data monitor Inrix reported: "A441 Pershore Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident between Bellevue and Elmwood Court. Sensors confirm road now closed. Speedwell Road also closed in both directions due to this accident."
Bus services diverted due to heavy traffic
NX West Midlands posted on X: "Due to heavy traffic diverting on the Bristol Road #Edgbaston There may be delays to the following services 1, 41, 45, 47, 61, 63. Please allow more time for your journey. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The road closures remain in effect, and motorists are advised to seek alternative routes while emergency services continue their work at the scene.
