Police Reviewing CCTV After Stourbridge Assault

West Midlands Police are reviewing CCTV footage after reports emerged of a woman being dragged along a street in Stourbridge while screaming. The incident occurred on Church Avenue in Amblecote on Sunday, June 28, around 10pm.

Details of the Incident

Police received a report of an assault at 10.05pm and officers arrived promptly to conduct a full search of the area. Despite house-to-house enquiries, no suspects or victim were located. A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We received a report of assault on Church Avenue, Amblecote at around 10.05pm. Officers attended and conducted a full area search and house to house enquiries to locate the individuals involved but no one was found."

Witness Accounts on Social Media

One resident took to Facebook, stating they saw a man "dragging a woman in a black dress around" while she screamed and he shouted abuse. The resident added: "One of the neighbours had come out and kept her safe for a bit but really worried about her now as she’s walked off." Another Facebook user said they did not hear anything but had an officer knock on their door asking for doorbell footage, commenting: "Really hope she got home safe." A third wrote: "My kids came running out the bedroom saying 'we’ve just heard a woman shout stop hitting me'."

Police Investigation

Police are now reviewing CCTV as part of their ongoing enquiries. The spokesperson added: "We are also reviewing CCTV footage as part of our enquiries." Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting crime reference 20/303910/26.
