Fifth Suspect Detained in Warwickshire Murder Case
A woman from Solihull has been arrested as part of an ongoing murder investigation in Warwickshire, marking the fifth individual to be detained in connection with the tragic death of a man in Kenilworth. The 51-year-old suspect was taken into custody on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and has since been released on bail until June, pending further police inquiries.
Incident Details and Emergency Response
West Midlands Ambulance Service and Warwickshire Police officers were dispatched to Chestnut Avenue in Kenilworth shortly before midnight on Friday, March 20, following reports of concern for a man's welfare. Paramedics arrived at the scene and discovered Carl Stephens, aged 45, in a critical condition. Despite immediate advanced life support efforts, medical crews were unable to save him, and he was pronounced dead at the location.
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service provided a detailed account, stating: "We were called to an incident on Chestnut Avenue in Kenilworth at 11.39pm on Friday, March 10 and sent three ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene. On arrival, crews found a man in a critical condition and immediately began administering advanced life support. Sadly, despite best efforts, nothing could be done to save him, and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
The emergency response also involved treating a second man found in a serious condition, who was subsequently transported to hospital under emergency driving conditions for further medical care.
Charges and Legal Proceedings
Warwickshire Police have launched a comprehensive murder investigation, resulting in the arrest and charging of three individuals with murder. The charged suspects include:
- Lewis Dowling, 24, of Yarnfield Road in Acocks Green, Birmingham
- Patricia Dowling, 49, of Chestnut Avenue, Kenilworth
- A 16-year-old boy from Kenilworth, who cannot be named for legal reasons
Additionally, a 72-year-old woman was previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and has been bailed while inquiries continue. All three individuals charged with murder are scheduled to appear at Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, for their initial hearing.
