Rossendale Ramblers Embrace Adventure with Three Scenic Walks
This week, the Rossendale Ramblers demonstrated that fortune truly does favour the brave, as fifty-nine enthusiastic walkers embarked on three distinct outings, reaping the rewards of stunning landscapes and social camaraderie. The group's adventures showcased the beauty of the local area while fostering community spirit through shared outdoor experiences.
Midweek Moorland Exploration
On Wednesday, twenty-two ramblers set off from Delph for an invigorating ten-mile trek. This route offered participants the unique opportunity to traverse the Standedge Tunnel on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal, a remarkable engineering feat. Additionally, walkers were treated to breathtaking moorland views, making for a memorable and refreshing midweek escape into nature.
Saturday Pub Walk with Extended Socialising
Saturday welcomed twenty-two more participants with mild weather for a leisurely two-hour pub walk starting from Summerseat. The group meandered along the picturesque Holcombe Brook and ventured into the serene Redisher Woods. Following the walk, everyone reconvened at the pub for an extended lunch and lively conversation, blending physical activity with social interaction perfectly.
Sunday's Resilient Reservoir Ramble
Fifteen brave ramblers took on the elements on Sunday with a six-mile walk from Great Harwood. Despite encountering several hail showers early in the journey, the sun eventually broke through, illuminating lovely vistas. The group explored the tranquil Dean Clough Reservoir and followed the historic Hyndburn Clog Trail, enjoying the serene still waters and scenic surroundings.
Upcoming Walks Offer Diverse Routes and Extended Rambles
The Rossendale Ramblers have a busy schedule ahead, with three exciting walks planned for the coming week. These outings are designed to cater to various interests and fitness levels, ensuring there is something for everyone.
Family-Friendly Sunday Stroll
On Sunday, April 12, the group will host a seven-mile walk starting from Walmersley in Bury. This route will visit Buckhurst, Nuttall Park, and Summerseat, concluding by 2pm to allow ample time for family activities. Organisers encourage participants to join for a pleasant day out that balances exercise with personal commitments.
Midweek Ribble Valley Adventure
Wednesday, April 15, sees the ramblers heading to Bolton-by-Bowland for a ten-mile walk through the beautiful Ribble Valley. This area is renowned for its scenic charm, offering walkers a chance to immerse themselves in one of the region's most picturesque landscapes.
Linear Friday Trek with Transport Support
Finally, on Friday, April 17, a ten-mile linear walk will commence in Bury, weaving through various byways before concluding in Rawtenstall. This walk utilises bus transport to either the starting or finishing point, enabling a more extensive ramble than typical circular routes. It is an excellent option for those seeking a longer, more adventurous outing.
Membership Details and How to Get Involved
All walks organised by the Rossendale Ramblers are free to join, making them accessible to everyone interested in exploring the outdoors.
