Heron Café Hosts Music-Filled Wellbeing Mornings for Ollerton Community
Heron Café Music Wellbeing Mornings in Ollerton

Newark and Sherwood District Council, in a collaborative partnership with Open Doors and Musicworks, is delivering a heartwarming series of music-filled morning sessions at The Heron Café. These community-focused events are designed to foster wellbeing and social connection among local residents and community groups across the district.

A Welcoming and Inclusive Environment

Hosted at the welcoming Lifespring Centre in Ollerton (postcode NG22 9PP), the sessions are expressly inclusive and open to all members of the public. They provide a particularly valuable space for adults with learning or support needs, individuals living with dementia, and organised groups from care homes or day centres. The initiative underscores a commitment to accessibility and community cohesion.

Live Music for Wellbeing and Relaxation

Each session features live performances from talented local musicians who specialise in music for wellbeing. Attendees are encouraged to participate actively by singing along, tapping their feet to the rhythm, or simply relaxing and enjoying the melodies in a calm, sociable setting. Complimentary tea and coffee are provided, enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere for all visitors.

The sessions run from 10.30am until 12pm, operating on a convenient drop-in basis with no booking required. This flexible approach ensures that everyone can easily access this community resource.

Council Support for Community Arts

Councillor Rowan Cozens, deputy leader and portfolio holder for Heritage, Culture and the Arts at Newark and Sherwood District Council, expressed strong support for the initiative. "The Heron Café is a wonderful example of how music and community spirit can actively support wellbeing," said Cozens. "These relaxed sessions offer something truly special for residents of all ages and abilities, and I encourage everyone to come along and be part of this welcoming space."

The next series of Heron Café music mornings are scheduled to take place on the following dates:

  • Friday, February 20
