Barrow Hill Roundhouse, Britain's last surviving operational railway roundhouse, will host a new LEGO-themed festival called 'Bricks in the Roundhouse' over the August Bank Holiday weekend in 2026. The event, scheduled for Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, 2026, will transform the historic Staveley venue into a family-friendly celebration of brick-built creativity.
What Visitors Can Expect at the Festival
Organisers have confirmed that more than 40 LEGO displays will be spread across the venue, covering themes such as Star Wars galaxies, fantasy realms, cinema classics, and beloved books. A highlight for train enthusiasts will be a 100-foot LEGO train layout, complemented by a special exhibition marking 60 years of LEGO locomotives, featuring everything from vintage sets to modern builds.
The event is designed as an interactive experience rather than a static exhibition. Guests can take rides on real trains, participate in a children’s treasure trail, and use hands-on building stations to create their own models. Visitors will also gain rare access to the venue’s new training building, which is normally closed to the public.
Family Activities and Trade Stalls
Because the entire show is undercover, it promises a weather-proof day out regardless of summer conditions. Trade stalls will offer LEGO sets, rare mini-figures, and hard-to-find pieces for collectors and enthusiasts.
The festival also carries a charitable mission. Proceeds from the event will support the ongoing restoration of the historic Barrow Hill Roundhouse, with additional fundraising earmarked for the local Air Ambulance charity.
How to Book Tickets
Tickets for Bricks in the Roundhouse can be booked in advance directly through the Barrow Hill Roundhouse website. The venue is located in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and the event runs from 10am to 4pm on both days, according to the organisers.
