Remus Horse Sanctuary is preparing to welcome visitors to its July Open Day on Sunday, July 5, running from 1pm to 4pm. The event promises a fun-filled afternoon for animal lovers of all ages, offering the chance to meet the sanctuary's rescued horses, ponies, donkeys, sheep, goats, and cats.
Activities and Refreshments
Guests can enjoy refreshments, browse a variety of stalls, and learn more about the charity's vital welfare work. Admission is set at £8 for adults and £6 for children, with delicious cream teas available by advance booking.
Weather Concerns
With much of the country currently experiencing a heatwave, the sanctuary team is hopeful for suitable weather. However, they are particularly mindful of heavy rainfall in the days leading up to the event, as visitor parking is located on paddocks that can easily become waterlogged. This issue forced the cancellation of the previous open day in June at the last minute.
Statement from Sue Burton
Sue Burton, from Remus Horse Sanctuary, said: “Like everyone, we're watching the weather forecast closely. Our Open Days are such an important source of fundraising for the Sanctuary and we love welcoming visitors to meet the animals. After having to cancel in June, we're hoping conditions will be kind to us and that we'll be able to throw open our gates on 5 July.”
Future Opportunities
For those unable to attend the July event, there will be further opportunities to visit throughout the summer, including popular afternoon teas that offer a more relaxed way to meet the animals and support the charity's work. Advance booking for the open day is highly recommended to secure a place. For further information and tickets, visit the Remus Horse Sanctuary website at remussanctuary.org/events. The sanctuary is located in Ingatestone, Essex.
