Veteran Journalist Details Bizarre Encounter with Sarah Ferguson
Australian television presenter Michael Usher has revealed shocking details about his interview with Sarah Ferguson, the former Duchess of York, describing the encounter as a "train wreck" that featured multiple walkouts and a bizarre barefoot chase.
The Uncomfortable Interview Setting
During an appearance on Nova 96.9's Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie last year, Usher discussed his dealings with the ex-wife of Prince Andrew. He explained that Ferguson insisted on being called "Duchess" rather than Sarah and displayed "lots and lots of airs and graces" throughout their interaction.
"She was relatively sweet at first," Usher recalled, "but then there was just this moment where she turned and getting her back into the chair was crazy. She came back and continued the interview, and then it was like a different personality again."
The Interview Takes a Heated Turn
The interview focused on Ferguson's memoir Finding Sarah: A Duchess's Journey to Find Herself, but tensions escalated when Usher asked her to watch undercover footage where she allegedly offered to sell access to former partner Andrew for substantial sums of money.
Ferguson responded sharply, telling Usher: "Don't try and trick me now because I am not going to play this game. Delete that bit."
The Bizarre Post-Interview Chase
After the interview concluded, Usher and his crew exited the premises, only to be pursued by Ferguson in what he described as a "hot mess" of a situation.
"We walked outside, and the Duchess came running up behind me," Usher recounted. "She chucked her heels off and she's in her stockings on the lawn. Going 'Michael, how was that?'"
When Usher suggested she should redo the interview, Ferguson abruptly changed topics, asking about signing books and inquiring about his children's names before wandering off.
Context of Recent Headlines
This revelation comes as Ferguson has been at the center of numerous controversies. The former Duchess of York reportedly now lives overseas in exile while considering her next moves.
In September, several charities dropped Ferguson as a patron after it was revealed she emailed convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein weeks after promising not to communicate with him again.
More recently, correspondence released by the US Department of Justice suggested Ferguson asked Epstein to "marry" her and allegedly offered to show his clients around Buckingham Palace.
Usher summarized the entire experience as absolutely horrendous, noting that "she walked out on me three or four times" during what he characterized as a disastrous interview session.
