Maxwell McCracken, known as the 'Wolf of Warwick' on TikTok, has amassed nearly 50,000 followers in just a few months with his vintage suit outfits and Tesco meal deal reviews. The 25-year-old from Birmingham has become one of the city's most wholesome social media stars, praised for his relatable and kind-hearted content.
From Car Boot Sales to TikTok Fame
Growing up 'all over' Birmingham and now living in Stratford-upon-Avon, McCracken says he never found his place at school. 'I struggled to gel. I struggled to have a proper friendship group. I was a bit of an outcast,' he recalls. It wasn't until college that he made a lasting friend, Zak, who became a key figure in his life. Later, with his best friend Chang, he engaged in various money-making schemes, from selling antiques to scrap metal at car boot markets. 'We'd wake up every morning and be like, 'how are we making fifty quid today?'' he says.
The Birth of the Wolf of Warwick
McCracken's TikTok career began unexpectedly. After a rainy day at the market, he decided to pursue a corporate sales job. His lunchtime meal deal videos with colleagues Terri-anne and Elliot became fan favorites, alongside his signature outfit videos featuring double-breasted 70s-style suits from charity shops. 'When you wear a suit, the world looks at you differently. I get less grief, I get more hellos,' he explains.
Wholesome Content and Positive Impact
McCracken's content stands out in a world often dominated by controversial figures. 'I don't take myself too seriously. I want to have a laugh. I'll never knock anyone. I try to give good advice. I think I'm quite relatable,' he says. His followers, whom he calls 'friends and family,' range from young lads to mums and dads. He receives messages saying his videos help them, and a teacher even showed his content in class. 'If I stopped getting views tomorrow, I've had enough from it already. The messages and the love are enough to keep me going in ten different lifetimes,' he adds.
Inspiring Style and Confidence
McCracken's style has inspired young viewers to buy suits. He has been nicknamed 'Corporate Yungblud' due to his resemblance to the rock star, and 'Birmingham Del Boy' for his background in car boot sales. 'I think people see a young lad trying to do something with his life,' he says. His advice to followers is simple: 'Be naive at the idea of failure. Love yourself. Look in the mirror and say, 'I love that person'. Stop knocking yourself.'
Family Influence and Future Dreams
McCracken credits his parents for his outlook on life. His father, a stonemason, taught him that character matters more than money. 'He said, 'I don't care if you've got £5 or £5million. It's how you are with people. Do you stop when someone needs help? Are you a shoulder to cry on?'' McCracken recalls. His mother, whom he describes as 'spiritual,' gave him 'human skills.' Despite his fame, McCracken remains grounded, dreaming of a yellow Ferrari but focusing on long-term goals. 'I'm not in this for a quick flip. I'm in this for the long run,' he says.
Community Recognition
McCracken's popularity extends online, with strangers stopping him for photos. A mystery admirer even installed a plaque on a bench outside a motorway Starbucks declaring it 'Reserved for Wolf of Warwick.' He praises his former colleagues and bosses, saying, 'They're wicked people. We'll be friends for life.' His advice to his young followers remains consistent: 'Never lose your character. Be who you are. If you collect comic books and can't wait for the next Marvel film, good. Live it. Breathe it. Be yourself. Don't ever conform to what anyone else wants you to be.'
