1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with 604 Miles Heads to Auction
1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow with 604 Miles to Auction

A remarkable 1977 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I, which has covered just 604 miles since it was first sold in Birmingham nearly 50 years ago, is set to be auctioned. The pristine vehicle, often described as a 'time warp' example, has spent most of its life in climate-controlled storage.

Low Mileage and Original Ownership

The Rolls-Royce has remained with its original owner throughout its life. According to H&H Classics, the auction house handling the sale, the car accumulated most of its mileage in the first few months after purchase. In 1993, it was placed into storage with 590 miles on the odometer. It was briefly brought back into use in 1998 for a family wedding, adding just 14 miles to reach its current total of 604 miles.

Meticulous Preservation

Since then, the Silver Shadow has been kept in a climate-controlled garage, resting on axle stands to protect its tyres and wheels. A bespoke cover has been used to preserve the paintwork in mint condition. The car comes with its original book pack, the sales invoice from P.J Evans in Birmingham, and complete MOT certificates.

Paul Cheetham, senior motor car specialist at H&H Classics, said: "We're thrilled to be auctioning this time warp Rolls-Royce, surely unrepeatable considering its mileage, ownership and originality. While Silver Shadows were built in relatively large numbers and have a high survival rate, we very much doubt that another will come to market that's as good as this one."

Auction Details

The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow I carries a guide price of between £70,000 and £90,000. It will be sold at the H&H Classics auction on June 17 at Kelham Hall, Nottinghamshire. This rare opportunity to acquire a virtually untouched classic is expected to attract collectors worldwide.
