A popular pub in north Birmingham is undergoing a significant transformation ahead of Father's Day and the World Cup. The Drakes Drum in Perry Barr is currently covered in scaffolding as it receives a major makeover. The Sizzling Pub and Grill, located near Kingstanding, Oscott, and Great Barr, will reopen in time for both Father's Day and England's first World Cup match.
What to Expect When It Reopens
Upon reopening on Friday, June 12, customers can look forward to entertainment, games, and prizes. The pub's website promises a 'new-look restaurant' and invites guests to see the changes for themselves.
Despite the closure, patrons can still book a table and enjoy Sizzling meals, including two mains for £14 from Monday to Friday starting at 12pm. For those who can't wait, the nearest alternative is The Towers Inn at 636 Walsall Road, B42 1EY.
World Cup 2026 Celebrations
During the World Cup, The Drakes Drum will feature big screens and unbeatable offers. Attendees can enjoy matchday entertainment, including a digital quiz that can be played anytime, with instant-win prizes and a weekly £50 gift card up for grabs.
Live quiz events will be held at 7pm on key matchdays: June 11, June 17, and June 23. Participants have the chance to win a six-month supply of Thatchers Gold, a matchday bundle, gift cards, and free pints.
The Drakes Drum is located at 11 Old Oscott Lane, Birmingham, West Midlands, B44 8TR, and will reopen on Friday, June 12.
